Named Perils: All Crops

Low Heat Units Protection

Cool summers delay crop maturity and decrease the potential for optimal yields. This growing season, protect yourself from losses due to low temperatures.

Low Heat Units

Adequate summer heat units are crucial in achieving crop maturation. For growers with late-planted acres or shortened seasons, timely heat units are even more important.

Low Heat Units Protection is named peril insurance that eliminates the financial risk of a cool summer by paying if too few heat units accumulate during your policy period (or before the first freeze of the fall). The greater the shortfall in heat units, the higher the payout.

Low Heat Units Protection is available throughout the year, with optimal pricing available early in the growing season. Insurance can be purchased for all or just a portion of your acres, for any crop, nationwide. There is no claims process required and payout is automatic if your crops don’t receive enough heat units, compensating you within 10 business days.
