“Total Weather Insurance (TWI) is a stress reliever.  When it’s raining out there, at least I’m getting paid for all that rain.  TWI helps protect the finances you have wrapped up in your operation.  I talked to a few people about it, and I would recommend it.  It helped out my situation, so I’d want to let them know about TWI since it could help them out too.”

His Story

Brian Holthaus is a 36 year-old husband and father of two who works in a factory and farms on the side with his dad and brother.  Together they grow corn, wheat and soybeans on 200 acres that is all family owned.  Having grown up farming, he has a deep appreciation for the job and the land.  “I work to be environmentally sound and apply good conservational practices.  You learn how to get the most out of the land but not abuse it.”

For Brian, the unpredictability of the weather is something that comes along with the job, acknowledging that “every year has its ups and downs.”  With variability being the nature of farming, he saw The Climate Corporation’s Total Weather Insurance (TWI) as “a way to guarantee a little bit of income.”  His crop insurance agent presented TWI and he purchased a policy for some of his land, finding “everything easy to do over the internet.  It was worth trying out and gave me comfort knowing I was going to get reimbursed a little if the weather was bad.”
