David Friedberg, Chief Executive Officer

Prior to founding The Climate Corporation (formerly WeatherBill) in 2006, David was with Google, where he joined as one of the founding members of the company's Corporate Development team. David managed a number of strategic projects for Google, including identifying and leading several of Google's largest acquisitions. David also served as a Business Product Manager for AdWords—Google's primary revenue source. Before Google, David spent several years working in private equity and investment banking. He has invested in and advised dozens of companies in the technology industry. Earlier, David worked at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where he led several projects as a mathematical programmer. He has a degree in Astrophysics from UC Berkeley.

 

 

Jim Ethington, Vice President, Product

Jim joined the Climate Corporation in 2008 and leads the product design and development efforts across Climate's products. Prior to joining the Climate Corporation, Jim worked at PriceWaterhouseCoopers where he led several high-­‐profile engagements including, developing innovative financial analysis and fraud detection software products that became core drivers of revenue across PWC’s lines of business. Jim has an A.B. in Computer Science and Economics from Duke University.

 

 

Tjarko Leifer, Vice President, Operations

Tjarko leads The Climate Corporation's operations and new markets groups. Prior to joining The Climate Corporation, Tjarko was a managing director at Aon Corporation, the world's leading risk advisor and insurance broker. Previously, Tjarko helped successfully commercialize a new-to-the-world consumer financial product at FirstRex (formerly REX & Co.).  He began his career at McKinsey & Company where he primarily served financial services clients. Tjarko has a B.S. in industrial engineering from Brown University and an M.S. in management science and engineering from Stanford University.

 

 

Andy Leventhal, Vice President, International Business Development

Andy leads The Climate Corporation's international expansion efforts. Previously, Andy was CEO of Recurve, the leader in residential energy efficiency software and services, where he successfully repositioned the company's offerings and completed the sale of the company to Tendril. Prior to Recurve, Andy founded and was CEO of Planet Metrics, where he raised VC and Angel funding and engineered the sale of the company to PTC. Andy was an early employee at EMC, VeriSign, Red Hat and Imperva, where he held key positions in international sales, business development, and strategic alliances. Andy holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island.

 

 

Jeff Mize, Senior Vice President, Sales and Business Development

Jeff leads The Climate Corporation’s global Sales & Business Development efforts.  Prior to joining The Climate Corporation, Jeff was the EVP of Sales at NAVTEQ.  During his 11+ year tenure, he built a global Sales team that generated over $1 billion in revenue annually, up from $28 million during his first year.  He was also a key member of the senior leadership team that took the company public in 2004 for $2.2B and sold it to Nokia for $8.1B in 2008.  Prior to NAVTEQ, Jeff was VP of Americas at C&K Systems, an electronic security equipment manufacturer.  He began his career at Micro Switch, a Division of Honeywell, where he held a number of positions with increasing responsibility in application engineering, sales and marketing.  Jeff holds a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign.

 

 

Gregory Smirin, Chief Operating Officer

Gregory leads The Climate Corporation's business and product development efforts. Previously, Gregory was a member of eHarmony's executive team, where he expanded the company's U.S. and international lines of business. Gregory's experience includes tenure at VeriSign, running two of the company's most profitable lines of business and serving as VP of the European mass-market organization. Gregory was also the founding VP Marketing & Product at Proofpoint, a messaging security firm, and at QuinStreet, a leading online marketing firm. Gregory has a B.A. in economics from Swarthmore College.

 

 

Kevin Vosen, Chief Legal Officer

Kevin leads The Climate Corporation's Legal, Compliance and Government Relations functions. Previously, Kevin was counsel at O'Melveny & Myers LLP, where he focused on corporate and securities transactions for emerging and mature technology companies, venture funds and investment banks.  Prior to that, Kevin was the General Counsel of Broadlane, Inc. an Inc. 500 healthcare services and technology company. Kevin has a J.D. from Harvard Law School and an A.B. from Duke University.
